Through an Ecohealth approach, this project studies the relationship among deforestation, anopheles ecology and the impact of malaria over the native and creole cummunities of the Caura basin in Venezuela. The specific goals are: 1.- To determine the relationship between deforestation around the communities and entomological parameters of malaria risk, 2.- To determine the relationship between deforestation and the incidence of malaria, and 3.- To determine the impacts of malaria incidence over different potentially vulnerable groups – specially within the same gender – and to analyze the causes of such vulnerability.
